Watch Russell Crowe and Rami Malek star in ‘Nuremberg’ trailer

The first trailer has arrived for the post-World War II drama Nuremberg, starring Russell Crowe and Rami Malek.

Nuremberg stars Malek as Army psychiatrist Douglas Kelly, Crowe as Hermann Göring, John Slattery as a US officer, Michael Shannon as Supreme Court Justice Robert H Jackson, and Richard E Grant as a tribunal judge.

The official synopsis reads: “The Allies, led by the unyielding chief prosecutor, Robert H. Jackson (Michael Shannon), have the task of ensuring the Nazi regime answers for the unveiled horrors of the Holocaust while a US Army psychiatrist (Rami Malek) is locked in a dramatic psychological duel with former Reichsmarschall Herman Göring (Russell Crowe).”

Ahead of its cinematic release on November 7th, Nuremberg, directed by James Vanderbilt, received its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival last month and received a standing ovation.

Vanderbilt based the movie on Jack El-Hai’s book, The Nazi and the Psychiatrist, which documents how Kelly determined whether Nazis such as Göring were fit to stand trial.

During an interview with Variety, Crowe described himself as a “history buff” and said of the movie: “Nuremberg was a beautiful script. It was very well balanced. It gave a great insight into this moment in history. So I was connected to it immediately.”

It has also been more than a decade in the making. Initially, it was supposed to shoot in 2019, with Crowe on board, but financing was pulled. Thankfully, Vanderbilt eventually managed to shoot the movie last year.

Crowe added of the project, “This whole cast, for me, it was like walking into a saloon in the wild west. Every motherfucker is a gunfighter. Every person in that room is going to freaking win the end of the day. They have their guns, they have their skills, and they’re ready to fight. And that was a great energy.”

Nuremberg is set for release on November 7th, 2025.
