My Bloody Valentine have finally returned to the live stage after five years away.
The shoegaze pioneers played a show at Birmingham’s O2 Institute, a show which signals the beginning of their eagerly anticipated summer headlining tour and, such is the rarity, became their first live show since 2013. At times, Kevin Shield and the band showed some signs of rustiness with a couple of technical difficulties, according to Jon Crowley, who was in attendance: “My Bloody Valentine sounded rough and messy tonight but that’s fine because a) it was a warm up gig (a few false starts.) and b) this band are meant to sound messy!”
My Bloody Valentine will now head out on tour, calling in at Robert Smiths Meltdown Festival on the way. Here are the tour dates and some fan footage of the show in Birmingham:
