Watch Hugh Jackman in the trailer for ‘The Death of Robin Hood’

The trailer for The Death of Robin Hood, starring Hugh Jackman in the lead role, has been released.

A24 are behind this darker reimagining of the classic tale, with Jackman leading the cast of all-stars, including Jodie Comer, Bill Skarsgard, Noah Jupe, and Murray Bartlett.

According to the synopsis for the film, the character of Robin Hood will be “grappling with his past after a life of crime and murder”.

However, unlike previous versions of the story, he is “a battleworn loner [who] finds himself gravely injured and in the hands of a mysterious woman, who offers him a chance at salvation.”

The film is being written and directed by Michael Sanorski, who was previously behind titles such as Pig in 2021 and A Quiet Place: Day One in 2024. Shooting for the movie has already wrapped, having taken place in Northern Ireland.

In the trailer, Jackman is seen traversing a range of epic and ruinous landscapes, when he is heard rejecting his title as a “hero” and instead labelling himself a “murderous brigand”.

After finding himself in trouble, he is subsequently saved by a mysterious woman, played by Comer, who then takes him under her wing in an attempt to change his ways for the better.

The film is being produced by Aaron Ryder and Andrew Scott under Ryder Picture Company, as well as Alexander Black for Lyrical Media. It is set to be distributed by A24 upon its release, with True Brit Entertainment taking responsibility in the UK and Ireland.

The Death of Robin Hood is set for release at some point in 2026, although a specific release date has not yet been revealed.
