Watch Harry Styles crash Ryan Gosling’s ‘SNL’ monologue ahead of hosting duties next week

Unfortunately for Ryan Gosling, Harry Styles made a surprise cameo during Gosling’s monologue on this week’s Saturday Night Live.

The 45-year-old actor was hosting the late-night show for the fourth time in support of his new film, Project Hail Mary, produced and directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller and written by Drew Goddard.

Next week, Styles will host SNL for the first time in six years, also doubling as the musical guest. However, Styles was eager to “watch and get a feel for it” during Gosling’s big moment ahead of the massive responsibility. He added amicably, “It’s been a while.”

Gosling immediately spotted the British star, stopping the flow of his monologue to cry, “Is that Harry Styles?”

During the monologue, Gosling fights for the camera’s attention, which consistently captures Styles’ reactions. In response, the Barbie actor complains about the usage of a split-screen, deployed so that viewers can always see the former One Direction star. Styles appears baffled by the situation, too, admitting, “I’m just listening.”

After a gimmick which shows the cameraman wearing an “I love Harry” t-shirt, Gosling admits frustratedly, “We all heart Harry Styles.”

The monologue ends with Gosling and most of the SNL cast performing a short rendition of Styles’ 2017 solo breakout song, ‘Sign of the Times’.

Styles recently released his fourth studio album, Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occassionally; the star has since revealed that the likes of Radiohead, LCD Soundsystem, and Four Tet inspired the project, which leans more towards an electronic direction.

Additionally, the star recently performed for one night only at Manchester’s Co-Op Arena, a show he turned into a Netflix special. Styles’ ‘One Night Only’ show saw the star singing all 12 tracks from the album from start to finish.
