Ezra Furman made his live debut on the British TV last night when he performed his latest single ‘Restless Year’.
The rendition of this former Track of the Day was recorded as part of the new series of the long running BBC stalwart Later… With Jools Holland, as part of an episode that also featured another Far Out favourite, Leon Bridges (as well as the more ambivalent bookings of Rudimental and Simply Red).
Taking to the stage to ooze his trademark gender ambiguity, Furman races through the version in a manner that manages to be ramshackled and harmonious in equal measure, helped in no small part by some pretty nifty falsetto-smart backing singers.
But what makes this even more exciting for Far Out and a selection of lucky ticket holders is that we will checking Furman out for ourselves tonight within the intimate surroundings of Manchester’s 80-capacity Castle Hotel.
Have a gander at last night’s performance of ‘Restless Year’ below and be be sure to check back tomorrow for Far Out’s verdict on the full live show. It looks set to be a cracker.
