Violent femmes unveil first track in 15 years

Violent Femmes have treated fans to a new single 15 years after the release of their last album, Freak Magnet.

The track entitled ‘Love Love Love Love Love’ is from a brand new EP, which will be unveiled on April 18th as part of Record Store Day.

The release will include four songs and has been named Happy New Year – due to the fact that the reformed rockers went into the studio to record it on December 31st.

Known for taking the templates and structures of classic pop and turning them on their heads, Violent Femmes have done again with this one, with writer Jake Brebes describing it as “an ode to old fashioned romance”.

Speaking about the comeback, frontman Gordon Gano said: “Happy to have some new recordings for people that have loved our music, and [we] would be honoured to have a few new ears hear us for the first time too.”
