Velvet Underground's John Cale to stand in for Jarvis Cocker

This weekend Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker will hand over his BBC Radio 6 show to a very special guest host.

As part of the BBC’s week-long celebration of ‘pop-art’, Velvet Underground legend John Cale will present the two-hour programme.

Expect iconic tracks from the past, present and maybe even future as Cale draws on a six-decade career that began when he founded the band with Lou Reed in 1964.

Since then he has also gone on to mould a celebrated solo career, releasing fifteen records, as well as producing classic albums for the likes of Patti Smith, Happy Mondays and The Stooges.

You can hear John Cale present Jarvis Cocker’s Sunday Service between 4pm and 6pm, Sunday (August 30th).
