Valerie Lundeen, the wife of Tarzan actor Ron Ely, has been murdered by the couple’s 30-year-old son Cameron Ely.
Lundeen, who is a former Miss Florida pageant winner, was found dead at the couple’s ranch property in Santa Barbara, California, on Tuesday evening and, when police arrived, authorities shot and killed the suspect Cameron Ely.
According to reports, police entered the building approached the victim: “Cameron posed a threat when they found him on the grounds of his parents’ home and as a result, four deputies opened fire,’ according to TMZ.
Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office public information officer, Lieutenant Erik Raney, confirmed the news: “Deputies searched the residence and surrounding area for Cameron Ely,” the Sheriff’s Office said. “During the search, the suspect was located outside the home. He posed a threat and in response four deputies fired their service weapons at the suspect, fatally wounding him.”
“We don’t know exactly how many shots were fired. We did have several deputies that were involved in the shooting. ‘Fortunately, all of our deputies are OK.”
81-year-old Ron Ely, best known for his role in 1966 television series Tarzan before going on to take the lead role in the film Doc Savage, has been confirmed safe by local authorities.
Ely married Lundeen in 1984 and had three children; Kirsten, Kaitland, and Cameron.
