US Marshals tracking down ‘West Wing’ actor Timothy Busfield amid arrest warrant
US Marshals are now involved in the search to find West Wing actor Timothy Busfield, who has been charged with child sex abuse.
Busfield, aged 68, is facing two counts of criminal sexual contact of a minor and an open count of child abuse.
On January 9th, a warrant for his arrest was issued in Albuquerque, New Mexico, after a child alleged to law enforcement officials that Busfield had allegedly touched them inappropriately when they were aged seven.
The court records claim that the alleged incidents occurred five or six times while Busfield worked on the Fox crime series The Cleaning Lady, which began in November 2022. He directed several episodes and executively produced the now-cancelled programme.
Now, in an update, an Albuquerque Police Department spokesperson confirmed to People that US Marshals are assisting with their hunt to find Busfield.
However, as of January 12th, Busfield was still yet to be found. In response to whether he’d been located, detained or arrested at this point, the spokesperson said, “Not that I am aware.”
Additionally, during a conversation with Deadline, the spokesperson admitted of the ongoing investigation, “I do not have a timeline.”
The investigation into Busfield began in November 2024, following reports from staff at the University of New Mexico Hospital, who told police that they believed children were being groomed on the set of the television show.
Per Deadline, Warner Bros, one of the production companies behind The Cleaning Lady, also launched an investigation into the allegations in 2025 but were unable to substantiate the claims.
Following the arrest warrant being issued, an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit starring Busfield, which was due to premiere this week, has since been pulled from schedules.
The veteran actor is mainly recognised for his role in The West Wing from 1999 to 2006, where he played the Pulitzer Prize–winning White House Correspondent Danny Concannon. He also appeared in several notable movies, such as 1989’s Field of Dreams and Revenge of the Nerds in 1984.
Busfield is yet to respond to the arrest warrant.
