Unsigned Sunday: Calling Curtis – ‘Warrior’

This week we are taking a look at Brighton four piece Calling Curtis who lay somewhere between raucous rock and roll and Doors style keys add another layer of vibrancy. Take a listen to a live performance of their track ‘Warrior’ at Sticky Mike’s Frog Bar in their native town as our Unsigned Sunday selection.

The band surround parties, they have a good time when they play and it comes across in the music. It isn’t restrictive or bound by genre, flitting between punk elements doused in psyche fuel it’s always ready for the spark of a live performance to really set the place alight.

The rhythm section is strong enough to cope with the erratic and perfectly chaotic vocal performance along with the scything keys which permeates the songs like gamma rays from the 60’s.

In ‘Warrior’ you can hear all of this. A tight performance with enough rope to throw a few lassos and capture the whole audience – it reeks of potential and highlights the band as potential future darlings of the industry.
