A Tribe Called Quest’s Q-Tip will join NYU‘s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in the autumn to add his talents to co-teaching a course on the connecting links between jazz and hip-hop, so say the university.
The course will look in to the influence and careers of prominent figures Public Enemy, the Roots, Lauryn Hill, and Kendrick Lamar. It was stated that students will have access to “in-class and out-of-class assignments under Q-Tip’s mentorship” that focus on performance.
“I couldn’t be more excited to share with the students what I know and I look forward to them also teaching me,” Q-Tip said in a press release. “Teaching is an exchange of sharing and receiving for all involved.” We can’t think of anything more likely to drive you in to class than the thought of Professor Tip waiting at his desk for you.
