Footage seemingly shows Tool get booed at their own festival
Footage from a self-curated festival in the Dominican Republic shows Tool seemingly booed during a performance at their own show.
The band had promised that their appearances over two nights at the Tool in the Sand Festival would consist of “two unique sets”, but during their second performance of the weekend, the band would fail to deliver on their promise and were seemingly heckled by their own fans.
The festival began in Punta Cana on March 7th, with Tool headlining a bill that also featured acts such as Primus, Mastodon, Coheed and Cambria among others.
However, while their first set on the Friday night was well received by the audience, they were unable to repeat this for their Saturday showing, repeating four of the ten songs that were performed on the first day and only playing five new tracks.
Understandably, fans were not content with the band breaking their promise that they would play two shows with entirely different setlists, and now footage posted to the social media site Reddit appears to show the extent of the crowd’s disappointment, with jeering, shouts of “fuck you” and middle fingers being aimed towards the stage all showing in the video.
The band did perform two “different” sets over the course of the two nights, as track order was slightly altered, but the fact that they suggested that things would be completely different seemed to wind up fans who were expecting the band to deliver something a little more special.
Tool’s tour is set to continue. They are performing in South America for the first time this spring alongside a smattering of performances in Mexico. Tool frontman Maynard James Keenan will also be embarking on his ‘Sessanta V2.0’ tour later this year with his other bands, A Perfect Circle and Puscifer.
Tool are yet to comment on the video of fans seemingly booing them in the Dominican Republic.
