Tom Jones warns fans about fake social media accounts impersonating him: “Report and block them”
Tom Jones has issued a warning to fans regarding fake social media accounts impersonating the Welsh singer online.
A statement issued on Jones’ official social media channels on January 9th, on behalf of his management, reads, “Regrettably, it has come to our attention there are many fake online profiles impersonating Sir Tom Jones and / or his team, who are attempting to scam fans and members of the public.”
The message insisted, “Sir Tom DOES NOT personally or directly communicate to individuals via his social channels.”
It continued, “If a fake profile tries to chat to you privately, report and block them. This will NOT be Sir Tom Jones or his team.”
The warning to fans concluded, “It is sad and disheartening to hear of these scammers attempting to trap and abuse vulnerable people, so please be careful and stay safe online.”
Previously, in 2024, Jones issued a similar warning to fans and explained that the crooner “only has access to his verified” accounts on Facebook, X, Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.
Per The Daily Echo, a woman in her 90s from the New Forest was the victim of a scam and lost £13,000 after they began speaking to a conman who was posing as Jones in 2024. A man in his 60s from the same area was also targeted in a similar scam by an account impersonating Celine Dion.
Jones’ last album, Surrounded By Time, was released in 2021 and topped the UK chart, making him, then 80, the oldest male solo artist in history to achieve this feat. Since then, he has toured regularly, including two headline dates at Cardiff Castle in August.
He is set to return to the stage this summer and will headline CarFest at Silverstone in June alongside Nile Rodgers & Chic, Rick Astley, and Jessie J.
