Tom Jones postpones German show due to health reasons

Tom Jones has postponed an upcoming concert in Bremen, Germany, due to a respiratory infection.

The veteran Welsh singer has spent the summer on the road across the UK and Europe since beginning the jaunt at Hampton Court Palace on June 13th. Jones had been scheduled to conclude the German leg of the tour on July 22nd at the Seebühne Waterfront in Bremen, but instead, the show will now take place on July 28th.

In a message to fans, Jones wrote on social media: “Hello to all the fans in Bremen. Unfortunately, I must postpone my show this evening, as I’ve contracted an upper respiratory infection that needs treatment and rest. I know this is really disappointing and will cause inconvenience to you all, and I’m very sorry about that.”

The ‘It’s Not Unusual’ singer continued: “But the show will now go ahead on Monday 28th July, so I look forward to seeing you then. All tickets will remain valid for the re-scheduled date.”

Jones concluded by writing: “Until then, thank you for your understanding. Love, Tom.”

This summer, Jones is scheduled to headline Camp Bestival in Dorset, as well as play two huge homecoming shows at Cardiff Castle in August. Additionally, he’ll be performing four dates in Spain next month.

His last album, Surrounded By Time, was released in 2021 and topped the UK chart, making Jones, then 80, the oldest male solo artist in history to achieve this feat.

In an interview with Far Out from 2021, he proudly said of his plans to keep active as an artist for as long as possible, stating, “When people used to say to me, ‘How long do you think you’d want to be on stage?’ I said to them about 97,. Now, I don’t know why I came up with 97, but I did. I want to sing as long as I can. A lot of old people lose the flexibility, especially with their vocals.”
