The dramatic first trailer for the upcoming Josh Trank film, Capone, sees actor Tom Hardy in the lead role of an ageing mob boss.
The film, which centres around Al Capone after his 11-year sentence at the United States Penitentiary, Atlanta while suffering from syphilis, also stars the likes of Linda Cardellini, Jack Lowden, Matt Dillon, Noel Fisher, Kyle MacLachlan, Tilda Del Toro, Mason Guccione and more.
“A ruthless businessman and bootlegger who ruled Chicago with an iron fist, Al ‘Fonzo’ Capone (Tom Hardy) was the most infamous and feared gangster of American lore,” the film’s synopsis reads.
It continues: “At the age of 47, following nearly a decade of imprisonment, dementia rots Capone’s mind and his past becomes present as harrowing memories of his violent and brutal origins melt into his waking life.”
Director Trank, who last directed the big-budget effort Fantastic Four, confirmed that Capone will initially be released on streaming services from early May. The filmmaker also confirmed that production hopes to be able to give the project with a full theatrical release after the current coronavirus pandemic calms.
