Timothée Chalamet makes pivotal decision over future of his acting career
Following the recent success of Dune: Part Two, Timothée Chalamet is one of Hollywood’s most in-demand talents, and he’s now made a pivotal decision over his career.
The hit movie mentioned above and Wonka were both made by Warner Bros, and Chalamet has agreed to extend his relationship with the company by signing a feature film deal that extends over a multi-year period. While this agreement will see him star in various new projects, the actor will also serve as a producer.
Although the Call Me By Your Name is yet to turn 30, he already has experience as a producer, having previously worked in this capacity on the Luca Guadagnino movie Bones and All. Furthermore, Chalamet is currently shooting the Bob Dylan biopic, Complete Unknown, and is also serving as a producer on the James Mangold-directed project.
After tying up the signature of one of Hollywood’s biggest draws, Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-chairs and CEOs of Warner Bros, shared their delight.
In a joint statement, the duo revealed Warner Bros are “thrilled that [Chalamet] has chosen our studio to be his creative home.”
They continued: “Over the last few years, we have admired not only Timothée’s commitment to his craft, which is evident in the range and depth of his varied roles, but also his unwavering dedication to give 100% of his time and attention to every project he has made here at Warner Bros. and elsewhere.”
Furthermore, the duo concluded by celebrating their recent successes with Chalamet: “His collaboration on the campaigns for Dune and Wonka is something we all enjoyed immensely, and the results speak for themselves.”
Meanwhile, Chalamet shared his joy after striking the deal: “Working with Mike De Luca, Pam Abdy and their teams on ‘Wonka’ and ‘Dune’ over these last few years has been a deeply rewarding experience.”
He added: “These are studio heads who believe in real movie making, and I’m so grateful for their support as an actor, producer and collaborator. This partnership feels like a natural next step. Let’s go!”
Notably, Chalamet hasn’t penned an exclusive deal with Warner Bros. However, they do have the opportunity to support any of his projects due to the newly-signed first-look agreement.
The Wonka actor’s new agreement comes after Tom Cruise signed a lucrative new deal with Warner Bros in January to develop and produce original and franchise movies that will feature him in the starring role.
Cruise said after signing the deal: “I have great respect and admiration for David, Pam, Mike, and the entire team at Warner Bros. Discovery and their commitment to movies, movie fans, and the theatrical experience. I look forward to making great movies together!”
Unlike Chalamet’s deal, Cruise did not sign a first-look agreement and is permitted to make movies with rival companies without seeking the permission of Warner Bros.
