Women of Color of Time’s Up, a subcommittee of the Time’s Up movement, has issued an open letter condemning R. Kelly.
The statement asks multiple leading companies within the music industry to cut ties with the R&B singer. They include the likes of RCA Records, Ticketmaster, Spotify, and Apple Music.
The open letter comes in the wake of the recent and disturbing allegations of physical and sexual abuse against him. Those accusations include grooming a 14-year-old girl as ‘sex pet’ and ‘knowingly and intentionally’ infecting woman with STD. Following this, Women of Color of Time’s Up said: “The scars of history make certain that we are not interested in persecuting anyone without just cause,” in their open letter.
“With that said, we demand appropriate investigations and inquiries into the allegations of R. Kelly’s abuse made by women of color and their families for over two decades now,” it continued.
