The latest cut from Brighton post-punks Thyla is a far more delicate version of the scintillating band we have come to know. It’s a gorgeous and emotive piece which we’ve made our Track of the Day. Listen to ‘December’ below.
The track is taken from the band’s upcoming release Everything at Once, which arrives on February 7th. On this song from the band’s sophomore EP, sees the band take on a far more vulnerable and veracious tone.
Having returned earlier this year with the first two releases from Everything at Once in ‘Two Sense’ and ‘Lennox Hill’ the south coast band have continued their ascent to the top of the indie pile. The new song is a departure for the band sonically as singer Millie looks inward for inspiration but it still rings with the integrity and craftsmanship we’ve come to expect from Thyla.
Thyla said: “’December’ shows a more delicate side to the band, Millie wrote the song for her sister who was suffering with some really tough personal issues, it came from a really dark and desperate place but the song manages to put into words what she could never say.”
