It is nearly 30 years since Radiohead released their debut single ‘Creep’ back in 1992 from their first album Pablo Honey. The seminal track marked the band out as a very singular act and now it has received some updated treatment.
Thom Yorke has shared the new mellowed-out acoustic version as part of Jun Takahashi’s fashion show Undercover. The runway show will feature clothing from the designer’s AW21 collection as well as doubling up as an art show.
The designer’s collection is further linked to the track via the title, “Creep Very”, while the show’s credits state that the ambient iteration of the classic track was mixed by Yorke himself.
This collaboration continues Yorke’s work in the world of fashion having previously provided music for labels like rag & bone. He also provided an electronic ambient soundscape ‘Pyramid’ to score the AI-generated visuals for the labels 2019 show, A Last Supper.
This latest remix takes the familiar track into unfamiliar terrain. The original grungy stylings are swapped for a simple folky strumming that helps capture the dark atmosphere of the piece, while electronic touches add the sort of artistic edge that catwalk shows crave.
