The Streets to play ‘A Grand Don’t Come For Free’ in full on new UK tour

The Streets have announced plans to perform their classic album A Grand Don’t Come For Free in full for the first time.

The seminal concept record, released in 2004, tells one story across the span of 11 tracks as the main character desperately tries to deal with the trials and tribulations of his relationship, while also attempting to track down £1,000, which has gone missing.

In a statement, Mike Skinner reflected upon A Grand Don’t Come For Free shows ahead of the shows next summer, sharing, “A Grand Don’t Come For Free was a moment in time — for me, and for everyone who grew up with it. I wrote it as a story from beginning to end, even studying screenwriting to shape it and without the faintest idea how people would react.”

He continued, “We’ve been looking for something bold to do with the live show, and we landed here: some tracks have never been played live, others haven’t surfaced in years.”

Skinner added of the tour: “It’s a new challenge to bring the whole journey to life on stage, but I have an incredible band and we always give everything every night. So I’m certain we’ll make finding out what happened to that thousand quid a party every night.”

The run of outdoor dates will begin at Dreamland in Margate, with other notable shows including Castlefield Bowl in Manchester, Alexandra Palace Park in London, and Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds.

Pre-sale begins on October 14th at 10am, before the general sale will take place on October 17th at 10am.

The Streets’ last album, The Darker the Shadow the Brighter the Light, arrived in 2023, and arrived alongside a feature film of the same name that Skinner directed.
