The Spyrals – ‘Take Me Out Again’
It’s Saturday, and depending on last night’s events, this glorious track by San Francisco’s The Spyrals may be one of the more meaningful records you listen to this weekend and beyond.
‘Take Me Out Again,’ taken from the group’s sensational second album, Out Of Sight, has been selected as the Far Out Track of the Day for this reason.
However, suppose you would take the time to listen to the release in its entirety, something I would wholeheartedly recommend any soul partial to some cool sonic grooves do.
In that case, you will quickly realise that it really could be any of the eleven bluesy, West Coast garage Rock & Roll-inspired numbers.
The opening chords do a fine job of laying down the song’s sentiment and tone that follows with our frontman’s (Jeff Lewis) yearnings emphasised throughout with bouts of strong rhythm, bold drumming and snazzy lead riffs.
The Spyrals are yet another celebrated cog in the burgeoning musical machine currently operating in the USA.
It’s bands like these that not only have the potential to get us all terribly excited about what lies ahead in 2014 but also dispel, in my humble opinion, the critics that continue to eulogise ‘guitar music’. Viva The Spyrals. Viva Rock & Roll.
