The Shivas – You Make Me Wanna Die

For today’s Track of the Day we welcome the surf rock sound of The Shivas and their instant classic ‘You Make Me Wanna Die’. It’s dreamy and drenched in 60’s pop, dig it.

The Shivas are Vancouver, WA.’s surf-rockers (premier) and “Portland’s best party band”. The Shivas are lovers of ’60s pop psychedelia and players of something mischievously modern, manipulating their retro-sound in to something fresh and current.

The laconic sound of the guitars resonate with a more summery weather system (probably why it was released in June) but it sings of brighter times, which in this dark and dingy month makes us all the more happy.

The impassioned sound speaks of love so dangerous it is constantly flitting between unbridled joy and desire to a more sinister place. It’s ambiguous yet familiar and is a great way to start the weekend.
