The Pretenders share new song ‘Turf Accountant Daddy’
The Pretenders have released another single from their upcoming album Hate For Sale titled ‘Turf Accountant Daddy’
The new song is the fourth snippet of the new record that fans have heard, following on from lead single ‘The Buzz’ and the album’s title track, both released in March, and the April release of ‘You Can’t Hurt A Fool’.
Hate For Sale was produced by Stephen Street who has famously worked with the likes of Blur, The Smiths and Babyshambles with the record originally due to be released on May 1st. However, this was inevitably delayed until July 17th due to the ongoing global situation.
The upcoming record also marks the first songwriting collaboration between Chrissie Hynde and guitarist James Walbourne. In a statement, Hynde said: “I wanted to write with [Walbourne] since day one. James is especially sought after and has recorded with Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Gahan, and The Rails, to name but a few.”
The new record acts as the follow-up to 2016’s Alone which was the first bit of new material from the American-English since 2008’s Break Up The Concrete. Last year, the Chrissie Hynde fronted group supported Fleetwood Mac on their June 2019 UK stadium tour which included two appearances at the globally renowned Wembley Stadium.
