The Mercury Prize shortlist is out: The Big Moon, Stormzy & Loyle Carner among them

And it begins. It’s that time of year again where we start the process of counting down to one fo the most important awards of the year. The road to the Mercury Prize 2017 has had its first slab laid as we have received the full shortlist for this year’s prize.

Brilliant albums such as The Big Moon’s Love In The 4th Dimension, Stormzy’s Gang Signs and Prayers are among the favourites while we hold out hope that th best man in hip-hop – Loyle Carner gets the nod. As the list gets whittled down let’s all just hope that Ed Sheeran doesn’t get it.

Though let’s face it, The xx could win it farting through a colander in to a microphone.

Blossoms – ‘Blossoms’

Dinosaur – ‘Together, As One’

Ed Sheeran – ‘Divide’

Glass Animals – ‘How To Be A Human Being’

J Hus – ‘Common Sense’

Kate Tempest – ‘Let Them Eat Chaos’

Loyle Carner – ‘Yesterday’s Gone’

Sampha – ‘Process’

Stormzy – ‘Gang Signs & Prayer’

The Big Moon – ‘Love In The 4th Dimension’

The xx – ‘I See You’
