Eight years on from their break-up, The Mars Volta have announced that they will be releasing a mammoth vinyl charting their entire discography.
The box set, titled ‘La Realidad De Los Sueños’, will include the bands entire 18 LP back catalogue, bolstered with unreleased material and rarities from the ‘De-Loused in the Comatorium’ sessions, titled ‘Landscape Tantrums’. And as if that wasn’t enough, there’ll also be a career spanning photo-book too.
Sadly, the boxset, which is set for release on the 23rd of April, is being limited to only 5000 copies and they’ll no doubt fetch a hefty price.
Each of the records will be pressed on 180-gram vinyl, in order to ensure the best quality sound. More information regarding the release can be found via Mars Volta’s official outlets.
The announcement comes on the back of a pretty interesting year for the former band during which Kanye West seemingly hinted that he had collaborated with some sort of reformed incarnation.
The rapper shared a clip of a sports documentary during his presidential run which was scored by the prog-rock band’s song ‘The Widow’, to which Kanye added, “The Mars Volta we need to finish the album.”
No matter what the future holds for the band, fans will no doubt welcome this bumper reissue, if they can get their hands on a set.
