The Lemon Twigs’ Brian D’Addario announces debut solo album
The Lemon Twigs‘ Brian D’Addario has shared details of his debut solo album, Till The Morning, which will be released on March 20th.
Although Till The Morning is a solo album from D’Addario, it was still a collaborative effort with his younger brother and The Lemon Twigs bandmate, Michael. Songwriting on the record was mostly a joint affair with Michael also co-producing the album, as well as providing harmonies and sharing lead vocals on two tracks.
Brian explained: “These were tunes that piled up over the years but when I started putting the album together, it really hung together musically and thematically. It’s country baroque.”
Another contributor to the record was Stephen Kalinich, who collaborated on two tracks. Kalinich is a Los Angeles-based poet who had a close-knit relationship with The Beach Boys, with Brian Wilson co-producing his 1969 record, A World of Peace Must Come.
D’Addario has known Kalinich for almost a decade, as he explained, “I met Stephen in 2017 after playing some of our first shows in LA. I was such a fan of his work and was struck by his dynamism and personality. He was dressed in all bright orange; in his words ‘like a pumpkin!'”.
The Lemon Twigs vocalist continued: “For a while he was sending me poems and asking me to put music to them. When I read the words to ‘What You Are Is Beautiful,’ it felt very musical and as soon I picked up the guitar it flowed easily. It was the same case about a year later when he sent ‘Song Of Everyone.'”
The title track from D’Addario’s forthcoming album has now been released to tease the record. He describes it as “a love song having to do with those fleeting moments when you grasp something real, amidst all the noise and propaganda.”
