The Flaming Lips and Deap Vally will join forces for new album as Deap Lips, hear the new song here

One of our more treasured bands, Deap Vally are teaming up with another nationally treasured band, The Flaming Lips to create a supergroup of sorts and release a new album. Their first single release from that, ‘Hope High Hell’, is our Track of the Day.

The Flaming Lips obviously have a longstanding tradition of collaborations. In the past, have shared collaborative albums with Miley Cyrus, Neon Indian, Stardeath & White Dwarf, and a whole heap of “heady fwends.”

Now, Wayne Coyne and Steven Drozd have got together with the powerhouse duo of Deap Vally, AKA Lindsey Troy and Julie Edwards to form a powerful new supergroup, Deap Lips. They will be releasing a self-titled debut on March 13th via Cooking Viny;.

The lead track of the record is ‘Hope High Hell’ and is a fitting start to their supergroup’s output. While Flaming Lips have an eclectic back-catalogue, Deap Vally’s is tinted with the heavy rock power they’ve always possessed. In this single, those two forces combine to bring you a touching first release.
