Bestival has announced the first wave of artists set to perform at this years festival on 10-13 September on Robin Hill, Isle of Wight. The ‘Summer Of Love‘, as we showed you last week, will be a tribute to the many that have come before it, ranging from the green-field hippy fun of the 60’s to the ecstasy-infused 90’s and all the inbetween including acts like Duran Duran, The Jacksons to Jungle and Kate Tempest. The ‘Summer of Love’ looks to now have well and truly kicked off.
There are so many incredible acts mostly geared towards pill-sick inducing dance music, such as Jamie XX, Annie Mac, The Chemical Brothers and Underworld, that ‘Summer of Love’ had to be the theme. With many incredible rock and roll acts to supplement the other half of the onesie-wearing crowd (crazy guys!) and the inevitable comedowns (though avoid Fat White Family if you’re feeling particularly shameful) there is a plethora of music for everyone to devour – if your stomach is up to it, of course.

“We’re taking it right back to our roots for the 12th annual Bestival. It’s also the 20th birthday of the club where it all started – Sunday Best, and that club and our beloved Bestival were founded on some pretty simple aims – listen to amazing music, make new friends, have fun, and maybe stay up all night. Two decades later we’re rigidly sticking to those principles, and this edition of Bestival, with its Summer of Love theme, is all about one huge musical, well, orgy… So, returning friends the Chemical Brothers rave alongside iconic popstars Duran Duran and The Jacksons, and some of my favourite modern musical mavericks – Tame Impala, Flying Lotus and Jungle – jump in bed together… and this is just the start of the party… Watch this space and feel the love!” – Rob Da Bank
