The Decemberists share new single ‘Burial Ground’
The Decemberists are back and have shared their first new song in six years, ‘Burial Ground’. Additionally, they have also announced a new tour to coincide with the news.
Their new creation features James Mercer from The Shins and was recorded with co-producer Tucker Martine. ‘Burial Ground’ represents a new era for The Decemberists following their last album, 2018’s I’ll Be Your Girl.
Following the new single, The Decemberists have announced plans to embark on an extensive tour across America, which starts on April 30th in New York and finishes in Troutdale on August 3rd. They will be supported by the Chicago-based indie rock group Ratboys with Heart, and the Heart will also join them in Bend, Oregon.
The tour is called ‘A Peaceable Kingdom’, and for this first leg, it will only travel across North America. In an Instagram post, The Decemberists said they were “thrilled” to announce and head out on the three-month-long run of shows. As of yet, they have not shared any plans to visit Europe.
While The Decemberists have been away for six years, the band members have still kept themselves busy. For instance, the singer, Colin Meloy, has written a series of children’s and young adult novels following the release of I’ll Be Your Girl.
Furthermore, his Wildwood film is currently being adapted into a feature film set to star Angela Basset, Jermaine Clement, Tom Waits, Mahersela Ali, Maya Erskine and Carey Mulligan.
