The Courtneys release new track ‘Lost Boys’

As we prepare for another weekend of music, hedonism, and a bit more music, we have The Courtneys, three young mercurial Canadians, as the main subject of discussion.

While we’re at it, we must also pause to give yet another tip of the cap to one of our favourite labels from across the pond, Burger Records.

They have directed the limited edition of Courtney’s effort, ‘Lost Boys’, towards a more than welcome UK home.

As you may well gather from these fuzz-infused sonic specimens, The Courtneys, consisting of Jen Twynn Payne—drums/Lead Vocals.

Accompanied by Sydney Koke—bass/vocals, and Courtney Loove—guitar/vocals, they take great influence and pleasure from former greats and similar slack merchants Jesus and the Mary Chain, Dinosaur Jr.

Sonic Youth is also on that list, as they go about delivering their own brand of rock and roll infused with dreamy riffs and pinches of punk.

Having just embarked upon a monster tour yesterday, starting in Vancouver (home to Far Out friend Tess Parks) and finishing in Michigan at the end of June, don’t be surprised if you hear a lot more of The Courtneys in the coming months and beyond.
