The Beach Boys to mark ‘Pet Sounds’ 60th anniversary with two special UK gigs

The Beach Boys have announced that they are set to mark the 60th anniversary of their iconic album Pet Sounds with two special gigs in the UK.

It was revealed via social media on November 17th that the band are set to play The Piece Hall in Halifax on June 17th and Guildhall Square in Southampton, as part of Southampton Summer Sessions, on June 18th, 2026.

The latest iteration of the California pop group consists of one of its original members, Mike Love, alongside Bruce Johnson, Jeffrey Faskett, Tim Bonhomme, John Cowsill, Keith Hubacher, Christian Love, and Scott Totten.

In marking the special anniversary, the band will be joined by the iconic 1970s Stockport rock band 10cc for the pair of dates.

The 60th anniversary of Pet Sounds will mark a seismic moment in continuing the legacy of the original Beach Boys, but will also be marked with poignancy after their frontman Brian Wilson passed away in June this year, at the age of 82.

Wilson was hailed as a sonic genius during his lifetime, but the release of Pet Sounds in 1966 saw him soar to even more prolific heights, with songs on the album such as ‘God Only Knows’ and ‘Wouldn’t It Be Nice’ sealing his fate as one of the greatest musicians in the world.

Prior to the frontman’s passing, the full original band reunited for the first time in decades back in 2012, but this was soon marred by Wilson’s ensuing feud with his cousin and bandmate Love.

Following the conclusion of that tour, Love went on to tour independently, billing himself as The Beach Boys despite the fact that he is the only original member left playing in the band.

After his death in June, Love paid tribute to Wilson in a lengthy statement, part of which said: “Like all families, we had our ups and downs. But through it all, we never stopped loving each other, and I never stopped being in awe of what he could do when he sat at a piano or his spontaneity in the studio.”

Tickets for The Beach Boys’ shows in Halifax and Southampton will go on sale from November 21st, with various presales starting from November 19th.
