With the end of 2019 drawing to a close, streaming service Spotify has released its data of the most successful artists of the year.
While Billie Eilish dominated 2019, Spotify has also decided to pull together a playlist of the 50 most-streamed tracks of the last ten years to celebrate the end of the decade.
Canadian rapper Drake will end the year as Spotify’s most-streamed male artist of the decade while Ariana Grande, an artist who has released five full-length albums in six years, becomes the most-streamed female artist of the decade.
While Ed Sheeran, Post Malone and Eminem make up the top five most-streamed artists of the last ten years, the playlist includes a wide-ranging selection of tracks which ranges from Bruno Mars to Avicii.
The top five most-streamed tracks of the decade are:
- ‘Shape of You’ – Ed Sheeran
- ‘One Dance’ – Drake, Kyla, WizKid
- ‘rockstar (feat. 21 Savage)’ – 21 Savage, Post Malone
- ‘Closer’ – Halsey, The Chainsmokers
- ‘Thinking out Loud’ – Ed Sheeran
