The 1975 release ‘Now Is the Hour’ from ‘The New Look’ soundtrack

The 1975 have shared their new single ‘Now Is The Hour’, taken from the soundtrack of The New Look. This is the second track to be taken from the soundtrack to the upcoming Apple TV+ series.

Curated and produced by Bleachers lead singer Jack Antonoff, the original soundtrack of The New Look features a variety of popular artists, including Nick Cave, Lana Del Rey, Florence and the Machine and, of course, The 1975.

Each track on the soundtrack, due to be the first release on Dirty Hit imprint Shadow of the City, sees a contemporary artist reimagine a classic song from times gone by. In this instance, The 1975 rework ‘Now Is The Hour’, a traditional Māori song popularised by Vera Lynn.

The full tracklisting of the soundtrack reveals that Lana Del Rey will take on Irving Berlin’s ‘Blue Skies’, while Nick Cave has a crack at reimaging ‘La Vie En Rose’. The first single to be released from ‘The New Look’ saw Florence and the Machine produce a fantastic cover of ‘White Cliffs of Dover’, another track popularised by Vera Lynn.

Antonoff has previously worked with the Wilmslow pop rockers, producing their 2022 album Being Funny in a Foreign Language.

The drama series itself centres around fashion designers Christian Dior and Coco Chanel as they attempt to navigate life in a war-torn Paris. Starring Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior and Oscar-winner Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel, the ten-part drama series features a star-studded cast.

The first three episodes of ‘The New Look’ are set to make their global debut on February 14th, on Apple TV+.
