Teyana Taylor’s favourite movie of all time: “I’ve watched it so many times”
If you’re a movie fan in 2025, then chances are you’ve seen One Battle After Another.
Paul Thomas Anderson’s sprawling, zeitgeist-channelling revolutionary thriller made a huge splash when it came out. While some people weren’t that impressed by it (me), most viewers and critics absolutely lost their minds, and it’s sure to have a major presence at the 2026 Oscars. There’s been plenty of talk about Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn, and the wonderfully-named Chase Infiniti, but there’s a case to be made that the movie’s real breakout star is Teyana Taylor.
As Perfidia Beverly Hills, the gun-toting, foul-mouthed wife of Leo’s character, she isn’t in most of the movie, but when she’s on screen, it’s hard not to pay attention to her. This is arguably her highest-profile performance to date. Since choosing to focus on acting over music – you can hear her voice on Kanye West’ career-defining album, My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy – she’s gone from strength to strength.
Now that she’s been in one of the movies that everybody keeps goddamn gushing about, people are dying to find out more about Taylor’s own tastes. “My favorite movie of all time is Pretty Woman,” she confirmed to Us magazine. “I’ve watched it so many times.”
Released in 1990, Garry Marshall’s class-hopping romcom was the first time Richard Gere and Julia Roberts were put together on screen. Their undeniable chemistry made the movie a must-watch and generated over $460million on a measly $14m budget. Roberts benefited the most from the film’s success, having previously been a complete unknown. After the film’s release, she was an Oscar nominee that everybody wanted to work with. There can be no doubt, Pretty Woman is a classic through and through, even if Gere doesn’t like it anymore.
This revelation was made as part of an article called ’25 Things You Didn’t Know About Me’. As well as her love for the classic rom-com, Taylor also revealed her favourite book (a biography about fashion designer Gianna Versace), her favourite vacation spot (Hawaii), and her favourite “old school rock bands” (Green Day and Blink-182). My sincerest condolences to anyone affected by her describing those groups as “old school”. You’re still young and hip, I promise.
Taylor also went into detail about her relationship with Iman Shumpert, an NBA player, which probably played a major role in her finding her favourite sports team, the Sacramento Kings.
When asked to give her favourite things about him, Taylor said, “his height and his man parts”. Alas, his “man parts” clearly weren’t enough to sustain their relationship, as they divorced in 2024.
She might have moved on from her husband, but Taylor is still devoted to her favourite film. In a 2025 interview with Letterboxd, she cited Pretty Woman as one of her ‘Four Favourites’. It’s nice to know that, even after all these years, she’s still won over by this unlikely tale of Hollywood romance.
