‘Terhan’ producer Dana Eden found dead in Athens hotel

The Israeli film producer Dana Eden, aged 52, has been found dead in a hotel in Athens, Greece.

Eden was the co-creator and producer of the Apple TV spy series, Tehran, which is currently filming its fourth season in Greece, which is why she was in Athens.

The Times of Israel reports that Eden’s body was discovered by her brother on February 15th. He began to search for her after she failed to respond to a series of messages.

An autopsy has since been sanctioned by local authorities. Security footage from the hotel will also be viewed, and police will be speaking to staff at the hotel as part of their investigation.

No cause of death has been confirmed.

Donna and Shula Productions, who make Tehran, have since refuted claims on social media that Eden was killed by the Iranian regime, stating, “The production company wants to make it clear that the rumors of the death being criminal or nationalistic are not true and baseless.”

They added, “We call on the media and the public not to publish unfounded theories and to act with responsibility and sensitivity. This is a moment of immense pain for the family, friends, and colleagues.”

The production company concluded their message by stating its wish to “preserve Dana’s dignity and her privacy” following her death.

Meanwhile, the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation have mourned Eden’s death, issuing the following statement, “We mourn the passing of our colleague and partner in a long line of productions, series, and programs at the Israeli Public Broadcasting Corporation – Dana Eden.”

The statement continued, “Dana was among the senior figures in Israel’s television industry and played a central role in creating and leading some of the corporation’s most prominent and influential productions.”

The industry body also said that “her professional and personal legacy will continue to shape Israeli television for many years to come”.

The third series of Tehran premiered on Apple TV+ last month.
