The rumours are spreading that Tame Impala could have a brand new album on the way very soon — that is if a new video teaser of Kevin Parker and recording equipment on their website is to be believed.
The psyche-stalwarts have made a name for themselves with their kaleidoscopic tunes and now it feels like a new album is not that far away following the mysterious new video on their website. The video sees shots of recording equipment and Kevin Parker working in the studio and looking out to sea.
The video is a typically psyche-tinged affair and has got fans excited that the band’s first new full-length record since 2015’s Currents could soon be on the way. With tracks ‘Patience‘ and ‘Borderline’ surfacing earlier this year, it feels pretty likely.
When Parker was asked earlier in the year by Beats1 DJ Matt Wilkinson about a new record this year the artist replied, “I would very much hope so. I’d be very disappointed if we didn’t have something out by then.”
“I mean, I love playing the songs live – I love playing ‘Currents’ songs, I love playing ‘Lonerism’ songs and everything – but I think I’m ready to play some other songs live. All the instinctual things are there.”
