Tame Impala announce live comeback with London’s Citadel Festival

Tame Impala will officially return to the UK with an ‘exclusive’ headline slot at London’s Citadel Festival.

The announcement has been confirmed as the band’s only UK festival appearance of 2018 and, as the event themselves are branding it, an ‘exclusive’ UK show.

The Australian band have been confirmed as headliners for the festival on Sunday July 15, it will mark their first return in two years.

Tame Impala’s last UK showing was two sold out Alexandra Palace shows in February 2016.

With pre-sale tickets now available, the Tame Impala announcement falls in tandem with the revelation that Citadel Festival is moving from East London to Ealing’s Gunnersbury Park.

The news comes as a new collaboration with the EDM artist Zhu was confirmed.

Zhu, who was on stage at Sony and China’s Tencent event aimed at celebrating the start of new electronic dance music label ‘Liquid State’, also announced details of the work with Tame Impala.

It is not yet known if the material will act as a single piece of work or if in fact the collaboration would fall on a new record.

Meanwhile Julien Barbagallo, the drummer of Tame Impala, has announced a new album under his alias Barbagallo.

Danse Dans Les Ailleurs (Dance in Other Worlds) on March 2 via Sony Music France/Arista. The new record is Barbagallo’s second release having put out album Grand Chien in 2016.
