Nick Mason was born to documentary filmmaker Bill Mason and Sally Mason in Edgbaston, Birmingham, before growing up in Hampstead, London. He studied architecture at Regent Street Polytechnic, where he met future Pink Floyd bandmates Roger Waters and Richard Wright. Mason was previously married to Lindy Rutter, with whom he had two daughters, before marrying actress and author Annette Lynton in 1990. They have two sons together.
