The 1966 album that inspired Flea’s jazz renaissance: “Deeply spiritual”
A gateway into jazz.

Flea is an Australian-American musician, songwriter and actor best known as the co-founder and bassist of the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
Celebrated for his explosive playing style, virtuosic slap bass technique and boundless stage energy, he has become one of the most influential bassists in rock history. Since forming the Red Hot Chili Peppers in 1983, Flea has helped define the band’s distinctive fusion of funk, punk, alternative rock and psychedelic influences through landmark albums including ‘Blood Sugar Sex Magik’, ‘Californication’ and ‘Stadium Arcadium’.
Outside the band, he has collaborated with artists across rock, jazz and hip hop, pursued an acting career and championed music education through the Silverlake Conservatory of Music. His innovative musicianship continues to inspire generations of bass players.
A modern day classic.
A bad movie, but an interesting time capsule.
The band previously distanced themselves from the film.
