The “miserable” 1970 song that predicted Creedence Clearwater Revival’s break-up
A bitter end.

Creedence Clearwater Revival were an American rock band formed in El Cerrito, California, in 1967 by brothers John and Tom Fogerty, bassist Stu Cook and drummer Doug Clifford.
Renowned for their distinctive blend of roots rock, swamp rock, blues rock, country rock and rock and roll, the band became one of the defining American acts of the late 1960s and early 1970s. Despite never having a US number one single, Creedence Clearwater Revival produced a remarkable run of classics including ‘Fortunate Son’, ‘Bad Moon Rising’, ‘Proud Mary’, ‘Have You Ever Seen the Rain’ and ‘Down on the Corner’. Their timeless songwriting, unmistakable sound and enduring influence have cemented their place among the greatest rock bands in music history.
Every classic rock song tends to be subjective. As much as fans might like to sing along to their favourite artists whenever they come on…
Fogerty got inspired by the rain.
A shrewd key to success.
“I was just crushed…”
A curious, prescient tale.
