Stevie Nicks

Fleetwood Mac was founded in 1967 by Peter Green, Mick Fleetwood and Jeremy Spencer, who first found success in the United Kingdom as a blues band. However, they reached international levels of fame after recruiting guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and his then-girlfriend, vocalist Stevie Nicks, to join the band.

Born in 1948, Nicks began writing music when she was 16 before joining Buckingham in his band Fritz, acting as a replacement lead singer. She supported artists like Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix during this period, artists who significantly inspired the young musician. After Fritz disbanded, the couple released the album Buckingham Nicks to little success.

Regardless, their talents were recognised by Fleetwood Mac, who became one of the biggest-selling bands in history when Nicks and Buckingham stepped on board, first appearing on their self-titled album. Throughout the decade, songs like ‘Rhiannon’, ‘The Chain’, ‘Landslide’ and ‘Dreams’ became massive hits, and 1977’s ‘Rumours’ topped the charts in the United Kingdom and the United States. Since its release, the record has sold over 40 million copies. Nicks also appeared on the band’s albums ‘Tusk’, ‘Mirage’, ‘Tango in the Night’, ‘Behind the Mask’, and ‘Say You Will’.

She released her first solo album, ‘Bella Donna’ in 1981, which hit number one on the Billboard 200 chart, followed by another success – ‘The Wild Heart’ in 1983. The musician has enjoyed a fruitful solo career with other records such as ‘The Other Side of the Mirror’ and ‘Trouble in Shangri-La’.
With Fleetwood Mac, Nicks has won two Grammy Awards, and she has even been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, becoming the first woman to achieve this.

The accomplished musician even inspired the novel and television series ‘Daisy Jones and the Six’, which took inspiration from the tumultuous romantic and working relationships that informed the creation of ‘Rumours’.
