The streetwear brand Supreme has acquired yet another rock and roll icon to be a part of its latest collection. Having signed up Neil Young and Morrissey before, the brand has now announced a new collaboration with The Velvet underground, 10 years on after their collab with Lou Reed.
While the latter collaboration with the late Lou Reed was a simple venture, featuring an image of Reed wearing a Supreme t-shirt printed on to a Supreme shirt, this collection is far bigger. The new drop will feature a rayon shirt, ringer t-shirt, two hoodies and three t-shirts
The clothes will use album designs as a primary print on the collection, diving into the Velvets back catalogue to pull out some real gems. While there’s room for the Loaded cover as well as using the back cover of The Velvet Underground & Nico LP the iconic yellow banana from the front is sorely missing.
The collection will be available online and in New York, Los Angeles, London and Paris stores on September 19th. It will be available in Japan from September 21st. While we’re yet to have see any prices, fair to say these items won’t hang around for long.
