Last week New York trio Sunflower Bean announced their second record Twentytwo in Blue. The album will be released on March 23rd through Lucky Number. And we for one are very fucking excited.
With the album announcement, they shared new single “Crisis Fest” and today they share the Andy DeLuca-directed documentary style music video, both a homage to the NYC DIY community and a nod to the era of CBGB’s.
The band explain: “We shot this at our local bar, Alphaville. It’s a venue that throws great DIY shows and has a special place in our heart. We trusted our favorite photographer, director, and friend Andy (who also shot the ‘I Was A Fool’ music video) with this video, because he has the best eye and understands how to capture what we’re going for, even if it means throwing himself into the mosh!”

The track itself feels like a hark back to a by-gone era. It feels full and chunky with a sense of sunshine production across the rock-pop riffs. On the harder side of Fleetwood Mac it’s a definite change in pace and direction for the previously psyche-punk attributed band. A change of pace we wholeheartedly welcome.
