Sundara Karma announce split and farewell shows

Indie rock band Sundara Karma have announced their split after 12 years together. They will embark upon a farewell tour in December.

Fronted by singer and songwriter Oscar Pollock, Sundara Karma was first formed in 2011. The band toured across the United Kingdom and Europe in their early years and became a staple of the indie scene. In 2017, Sundara Karma released their debut album, Youth Is Only Ever Fun in Retrospect. The indie rockers have delivered two more full-length projects since then.

Now, the band have announced their plans to stop releasing as Sundara Karma, as they explore new ventures. In a post on Instagram, they stated that closing this “significant chapter” has been “one of the hardest decisions we’ve ever had to make.”

“We’ve been a band for over twelve years and we’ve experienced things we could never have imagined,” they wrote, “This journey has been nothing short of incredible! As we’ve grown, so have our hopes and dreams, and we’re ready to explore new things.”

“It’s not goodbye to music,” the band clarified, “it’s just time for us to step away from making music as Sundara Karma.” The statement also emphasised the ongoing friendship between the band members, stating that their bond has “only grown stronger, and that’s something we treasure as much as the music we’ve made together.”

The statement closed with a thank you to the fans who made their experience “unforgettable.” “You’ve been with us through it all,” they wrote, “and we’ll forever be grateful for the love, energy, and time you’ve shared with us.”

For those fans hoping to catch Sundara Karma live one last time, the band have announced a run of headline shows across the United Kingdom as a farewell tour. They will play just four dates at O2 venues across the country.

The tour will kick off at Glasgow’s O2 Academy on December 1st. The band will then play the O2 Academy in Liverpool on the 3rd and Manchester’s O2 Ritz on the 4th. The farewell tour will conclude at London’s O2 Forum Kentish Town on December 8th. Special guests Overpass will join the band for their Glasgow, Liverpool and London dates.

Pre-sale tickets for Sundara Karma’s farewell tour will be available from 10am on September 26th, for those signed up to the band’s mailing list. General sale will be available from 10am on September 27th.
