Radiohead’s Jonny Greenwood has been keeping himself busy recently with being in one of the world’s biggest bands and composing film sound-tracks with today marking the release of another composition written for the silver screen.
The Radiohead man has scored Lynne Ramsay’s new mystery/thriller, ‘You Were Never Really Here’. The soundtrack is now available digitally and you can stream it in full below.
The Lynne Ramsey film, which stars Joaquin Phoenix, opens in select theaters beginning April 6th. The synopsis for the film is: “A traumatized veteran, unafraid of violence, tracks down missing girls for a living. When a job spins out of control, Joe’s nightmares overtake him as a conspiracy is uncovered leading to what may be his death trip or his awakening.”
Greenwood recently produced the soundtrack for the Paul Thomas Anderson directed Phantom ‘Thread’, for which he received his first Oscar nomination for Best Original Score although he missed out on winning the award to Alexandre Desplat for his work on ‘The Shape of Water’..
The Radiohead guitarist said when he recently appeared on the Adam Buxton podcast the project worked well because of the pair’s bromance.
He said: “He basically likes to take the piss out of me and was joking about how unromantic Radiohead is. And [he] said, ‘Come on, you must have some romance in you. Give me more strings.’
He added: “He wanted the music to be really English and really romantic and be written by me, which feels like a big three-way contradiction now I’ve said that.”
