Steve Soto, well known as the co-founder of a bunch of pioneering punk groups, has died aged 54.
Having founded bands such as The Adolescents and Agent Orange, Soto was a highly respected multi-instrumentalist who was still actively touring and making music. Soto founded the Adolescents in 1980 alongside band-mates Tony Reflex, Frank Agnew, Rick Agnew and Casey Royer.
On top of that, he continued to lead the alongside Tony Rex for decades to come and released repeated albums right up until 2016 record Manifest Density. The band also completed a run of U.S. tour dates.
The cause of death has not been released but the band confirmed Soto’s passing via their Twitter account: “With heavy heart, I share the passing of Steve Soto, my friend and bandmate since 1979,” the message read. “I don’t know what to do. or to say. Goodbye my brother.”
