Squarepusher brings Shobaleader One to the live stage

After a couple of initial gigs at the back end of last year, Squarepusher aka Tom Jenkinson will once again bring his new live ensemble Shobaleader One to the stage.

The band sees Jenkinson team up with a group of like-minded virtuosos, meaning he has been able to create the most organic vehicle to perform his jazz-drenched material to date.

With that in mind, lucky ticket holders can expect to hear tracks from the 2010 LP d’Demonstrator (the first project Jenkinson recorded with the band) as well as some mind blowing live twists on Squarepusher classics.

On Friday (May 6th), Shobaleader One will perform at Gorilla in Manchester, before heading to London’s Islington Assembly Hall two days later.

Both dates will see fellow Warp Records signee Lafawndah perform in support, but London will play host to another (more surprising) opener, as six-time world champion ‘Snookerstar DJ’ Steve Davis will also be spinning some techno beforehand.

Fair to say we never thought we would find ourselves typing that last sentence. But if that isn’t enough of a cherry on the cake to convince you to be there, we simply don’t know what is. Otherwise… see you down the front!
