The fuzz merchants from down under (via London) Splashh have given us a taste of the new LP with the title track ‘Waiting a Lifetime’. If you’re expecting something a little soulful or mournful for this bleak Monday morning we’re afraid you’ve come to the wrong place.
‘Waiting a Lifetime’ is Splashh doing what they do best, managing to make a song filled to the brim with attitude and distortion feel approachable and enjoyable beyond the thrashing of limbs. Adding playful whistles only enhance this, but the pop tinge that coats the bands otherwise gritty sound is what sets them apart.
The upcoming LP is something we can’t wait to get our hands on but with a release date of April 14th we will have to wait a little while yet. But with Nicolas Vernhes (The War on Drugs, Deerhunter, Animal Collective) alongside the band we are truly expecting great things.
Toto Vivian said in a statement “We had been sitting with the demos for 3 years, so we had an idea of what we thought the album should sound like. When we went into the studio with Nicolas, we started fresh and tore the songs apart. It was a lot of fun to experiment and take it as far as we could. It was liberating.”
Exciting stuff, listen below and truly forget about Monday.
