‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ starring Tom Holland to commence filming this summer
The fourth instalment in Tom Holland’s tenure as Peter Parker now has an official title: Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Director Destin Daniel Cretton made the announcement during CinemaCon in Las Vegas this week.
Cretton also elaborated on the film’s timeline, revealing that it will begin shooting this summer and is set for release on July 31st, 2026. It’s been four years since the previous entry in the series, 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home, and fans will no doubt be clamouring to know what’s happening to the web-weaving superhero.
No Way Home ended when Peter Parker accidentally broke open the multiverse and chose to erase his identity, leaving the door wide open for any and all plot directions. As is typical at this stage of a Marvel film, however, everyone involved is keeping mum on the details of Brand New Day.
Holland wasn’t at CinemaCon for the announcement. He is currently in production on Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, which is being shot in Greece, Sicily, Morocco, and the UK. He did, however, send a video message.
“I know we left you with a massive clip hanger at the end of No Way Home,” he said (via Variety), “So Spider-Man: Brand New Day is a fresh start. It is exactly that. That’s all I can say.”
There is a glut of Marvel films slated to hit theatres before Brand New Day makes its entrance next year. Thunderbolts* is coming next month, the Fantastic Four reboot is coming in July, and Avengers: Doomsday will land in May of next year.
Still, Marvel is no doubt relieved to have Brand New Day on the calendar. The last three films have been a reliable box office draw over the years, drawing $880 million, $1.13 billion, and $1.9 billion, respectively.
