Smashing Pumpkins cover Hole with Courtney Love

The huge Smashing Pumpkins reunion tour may have already kicked off but it got its first big moment last night when Courtney Love joined the band to cover some classics from her former band Hole.

At their show in Holmdel, New Jersey, the band collaborated with Love and surprised fans by covering two Hole songs. Taking on ’Celebrity Skin’ and ‘Malibu’ – with Courtney Love rocking alongside them.

But they weren’t quite done there as they, somewhat strangely, invited Sugar Ray’s Mark McGrath to join the band and play two songs, including ‘Fly’ by Sugar Ray.

Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin famously ditched their previous member D’Arcy Wretzky in what has become a very embittered feud over the reunion. But with new track ‘Solara’ being the first 3 members first time writing together in 18 years it hasn’t taken long for Corgan to tease a new album over Instagram.

See that and the fan footage below.
